A quick check-in on the future of our Scout Group

Date: 30th Sep 2026 Author: Scout Websites

Running a Scout group takes a team. So recently we asked our volunteers a simple question: what does the next year look like for you?

Thank you for the feedback

A big thank you to everyone who completed our leadership survey. It’s helped us understand what people realistically feel able to do over the coming year.

The good news is that there’s still a huge amount of enthusiasm across the group. Our volunteers care deeply about making sure young people in Camelsdale continue to enjoy everything Scouts has to offer – adventure, friendship and the chance to try things they might never normally do.

Sharing the load

The survey also confirmed something many of us already knew, a few of our long-serving volunteers have been carrying quite a lot for quite a while.

As work, family life and commitments change, some people may need to step back a little. That’s completely normal in a volunteer organisation.

It simply means it’s time to share the load and bring a few more people into the team.

What happens next?

Over the coming months we’ll be focusing on a few simple priorities:

  • spreading responsibilities across more volunteers
  • making roles smaller and more flexible
  • welcoming some new adults into the team

The aim is simple: keep Scouts in Camelsdale thriving for the next generation.

Fancy helping us out?

Behind every Beaver game, Cub campfire and Scout expedition is a team of volunteers making it happen.

If you’ve ever thought about helping out — even occasionally — we’d love to hear from you.

You don’t need any previous Scout experience. Just a bit of time and a willingness to get stuck in.
