Leaders’ Jolly – Snowdonia – March 2026
If you think all we do as volunteers is organise adventures for our young people, you’d be very much mistaken: We save some of the best for our leader weekends!
In March 2026, nine of us headed off to Snowdonia for three days of epic hiking in beautiful North Wales. We were blessed with two days of fantastic weather and just one with the kind of weather you’d expect of early Spring in Wales.
Over the weekend we scrambled up to the peak Moel Siabod, took in the sights of The Devil’s Kitchen, marvelled at the sideways icicles atop the frozen peak of Glyder Fawr, braved the Cantilever Stone on Gldyer Fach and explored the ruins of the old slate quarry in the Cwmorthin valley on the way up to the Moelwyn Mawr before finishing our final leg of the weekend with a bit of traversing along crumbling cliffside paths and some inventive navigation as we had to change our plans due to an invisible footpath.
Over the weekend we racked up around 18 hours of hiking, interspersed with a couple of well-earned trips to the local pub to sample some excellent Welsh beers. It made for a wonderful weekend of team building, bonding and having a go at some stuff we wouldn’t be able to do with our Scouts – but we do hope that their time with us will inspire some of their own adventures someday.
If you’re interested in volunteering as a leader or just a general helper, we are always keen to welcome people to the team. It’s incredibly rewarding to work with lovely like-minded people towards the common goal of developing young people and seeing them flourish. As you can see, we do have an awful lot of fun too!
